Genealogist to present for CCGS on Zoom

Dave Obie, a genealogist, author of more than a dozen books and international speaker, will present “A Sense of Place and Time: Putting Ancestors in Context” at the upcoming gathering of the Clallam County Genealogical Society, starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 10.

The meeting, which can also be watched at the society’s research center at 403 E. Eighth St., Port Angeles, is free and open to the public.

OPEN fundraiser set

On July 10-11, Olympic Peninsula Equine Network (OPEN) is hosting its second annual OPEN the Trails Camp Out & Fireside Social Fundraiser at Layton Hill Horsecamp. Festivities include trail rides, an equine obstacle course, a hay ride, wine pull, silent auction, raffle prizes, a band and community campfire with s’mores.

Riders are invited to camp out for the weekend with or without a horse, or come just for the afternoon and/or evening activities and the Fireside Social.

All proceeds benefit OPEN’s horse rescue, rehabilitation and adoption program based at 251 Roupe Road in Sequim.

Hospital guild’s thrift shop sets sale

The Sequim Hospital Guild Thrift Shop, 204 W. Bell St., hosts a sale from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on July 1-3. The shop will feature furniture from an estate sale, a unique tea set, jewelry and women’s clothing. All yellow and blue tag items will be $1.

The shop welcomes donations of items such as gently-used household, gift ware, home decor and kitchen; however, the guild is not able to accept clothing at this time.

Hours/days for accepting donations are 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Proceeds from the all-volunteer shop are donated to local health care needs via Clallam County Fire District 3 (Sequim, the Sequim Free Clinic, Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County, and nursing scholarships at Peninsula College.

The guild is also seeking shop volunteering, whose serving commitment is just six hours per month. Get an application at the shop or call 360-683-7044.
