Track & Field: Wolves dominate in first league dual meet

Sequim’s Tyler Mooney and Riley Pyeatt had huge days at a three-way track and field meet at Bremerton on March 25.
Mooney won the 100-meter dash (11.33 seconds), the 200 (23.07) and the 400 (52.55). Along with teammates Henry Hughes, Calem Klinger and Mirek Skov, Mooney helped the Sequim 4×400 team win in a time of 3:49.71.
Meanwhile, Pyeatt won the 100 (13.24), the 200 (27.18) and the 800 (2:21.41). She also anchored the Sequim girls’ 4×400 team that won with a time of 4:25.39; other runners on that team included Hi’lei Robinson, Anastasia Updike and Eve Mavy.
Sequim’s Rileigh VanDyken won the 100 hurdles (19.49), the pole vault (7-0) and the 300 hurdles (57.07).
On the boys’ side, SHS senior Adrian Brown cruised to a win in the 110 hurdles (16.64) while Andrew Brown won the 300 hrudles (51.73). Mirek Skov took top honors in the pole vault with a personal-best 10-0 and brother Ari Skov won the triple jump (32-4). Hughes was second in the javelin (109-7), Talon Wilhelm second in the long jump (16-9) and Andrew Brown was second in the high jump (5-4).
For Sequim’s girls, Mavy won the 1,600 meters (5:46.47), Updike won the 3,200 meters (15:50) and Mavy, Robinson, Updike and Katie Morris teamed up to win the 4×200 (1:56.39), as the Wolves swept all but two running events (400 meters, 4×100 relay).
Coming up
The Wolves get an early season respite for Spring Break. They are back in action at Kingston on Thursday, April 14, and are at the Lil Norway Invitational in Poulsbo on Saturday, April 16.
Sequim is at Olympic (Silverdale) on April 20 and the Gear Up Eason invitational at Snohomish High School on April 23.
