OTA’s busy weekend includes Story Slam, Time Out, Tess Teel

Olympic Theatre Arts has a trio of events later this month, kicked off by an interactive storytelling show.
Story Slam is back
Story Slam returns to OTA at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 20, at the theatre’s Gathering Hall, 414 N. Sequim Ave.
Everyone is invited to drop their name in the bag to share a five-minute true personal story on the theme, however they interpret it, said organizer Jeanné Sparks. The theme for the evening is “Growth.”
“If your name gets pulled, you get on the stage to share,” Sparks said. “Of course, the event needs an audience, and everyone is welcome to come to listen, there is no pressure to be a teller.”

Tickets are $10 and are available at the door, online at olympictheatrearts.org or by calling the box office between 1-4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.
Time Out to the stage
Time Out, a group of veteran musicians, offers songs from the Great American Songbook, Broadway shows, blues and easy listening starting at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at OTA’s Gathering Hall. Members of Time Out are vocalist Ann Brittain, Ed Donahue on trumpet and flugel horn; Andy Geiger on tenor saxophone, keyboardist Antonius Mulia, bassist Elaine Gardner-Morales and drummer Pete Harris. Tickets are $15 and are available at olympictheatrearts.org.
‘Stage and Screen Divas’ on tap
Join singer Tess Teel and special guests for the evening — including Linda Dowdell on keyboards and Ted Enderle on upright bass — as they highlight some best loved songs and shows of stage and screen with “An Evening of Stage and Screen Divas,” set for 5 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at Olympic Theatre Arts’ Gathering Hall, 414 N. Sequim Ave.
Music includes favorite songs from “Cats,” “Evita,” “Funny Lady,” “Oliver,” “My Fair Lady” and more.
