Olympic Medical Center named Denise Harman its new director of medical/surgical/pediatrics, promoting her from the interim director role she’s held since April.

Denise Harman is Olympic Medical Center’s new director of medical/surgical/pediatrics, the organization announced in early August.

Since April 2022, Harman served as OMC’s interim director of medical/surgical/pediatrics. Before taking on the interim director position, Harman was a clinical supervisor, and has experience as a primary care office nurse coordinator, and a bedside nurse in the same department she now leads.

“Denise has been a registered nurse since 2015 and has served in a variety of roles over her career,” said Vickie Swanson, Olympic Medical Center chief nursing officer, in a press release on Aug. 4.

“We know her strong leadership skills both clinically and with her staff make her a strong choice to lead the medical/surgical/pediatric team,” Swanson said. “Denise is committed to leading the unit through change and growth.”

As director of medical/surgical/pediatrics, Harman’s goal is to “serve as a leader by collaborating with nursing staff to implement lasting change that will continue to move the medical/surgical/pediatric department in a positive direction,” Harman said.

“I will also continue developing a culture that promotes a positive work environment and increases positive patient outcomes,” Harman said.

Harman’s nursing and leadership experience also spans long-term and memory care, pediatric home health, primary care, corrections nursing and medical/surgical/pediatrics.
