Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County (VHOCC) recently received a grant of $15,000 from Sequim Dungeness Hospital Guild.
The organization will use the grant to meet payroll expenses for recently hired CNAs (certified nursing assistants).
With the current challenges in recruiting registered nurses, VHOCC expanded its search for CNAs, representatives for the nonprofit said last week. By placing an extra member of the clinical team in direct contact with the patients and their caregivers, VHOCC offers more “hospice” in the patients’ homes.
VHOCC has been offering hospice care, grief support and educational programs to the local community free of charge since 1978. Its clinical staff provides professional care either directly or through consultations, provides symptom and pain management. VHOCC also supports their families through respite care and grief and bereavement programs.
