Sequim left-hander Lainey Vig was solid in the circle in the Wolves’ 5-2 softball victory over Kingston on May 4, allowing two runs on four hits while scattering six walks and striking out eight.

Leadoff hitter Hannah Bates doubled and came home on a Mikki Green sacrifice fly to stake Sequim to a 1-0 lead.

Jordan Kidd was hit by a pitch to open the second inning and stole second to move into scoring position. Sammi Bacon’s single advanced Kidd to third and she came home when Bates’ grounded out to second for a 2-0 Wolves’ lead.

An Angel Wagner solo home run and a two-run error on Taylee Rome’s hard-hit shot to right field scored Bacon and Bates to round out the Sequim offensive output.

Kidd had a key early-inning catch in left field to quell and Buccaneer rally.

The Wolves (9-3 in Olympic League, 9-7 overall) are a half game ahead of Olympic (8-3, 9-7) and Port Angeles (8-3, 13-3) heading into the final week of the regular season.
