Greywolf Elementary School last week held its first talent show since the COVID-19 pandemic lock-downs, with a show on June 15 at 6 p.m. for family and another midday on June 16 for the rest of the school.

On family night, the seats were filled and some children sat on the floor near the performers, and some adults watched while leaning on the back wall of the gym.

Seventeen students performed, most solo, but Zary Durham and Lexi Lind performed a partner acrobatic routine, brothers Owen and Preston DeAngelo demonstrated Taekwondo, and Abby Floyd and McKyla Lopez kept the audience laughing with a puppet show featuring paper dragons telling jokes.

Crystal Adams opened the show with a welcome song set to a handheld drum and Harper Robins performed an interpretive dance. The students all displayed bravery, confidence and talent, whether singing, displaying lightsaber tricks or moving like a worm. Teachers involved in the show included Sheri Burke, Shannon Green, Caryn Little and Taleah Burr.

Attending families encouraged the performers; one small boy in the first row was particularly enthusiastic.

“We are so excited to be back in a place where students can show their talents,” Burke said.
