Girls basketball: Wolves score big non-league win over Sentinels

Sequim jumped out to a 23-point lead by halftime and cruised to a 63-38 win over the visiting Steilacoom Sentinels on Dec. 23.

In their lone Winter Break game, the Wolves (2-1 in Olympic League, 4-2 overall) were led by Bobbi Mixon’s 16 points. Jolene Vaara added 14 points and five assists, and Dani Herman chipped in 10 points, eight rebounds and two blocks.

Libby Turella had a big all-around game with seven points, seven rebounds and four assists, and Gracie Chartraw added nine points. Mixon, Vaara and Turella had four steals each.

Sequim held a 22-9 lead after one quarter and led 39-16 by halftime.

The Wolves were scheduled to play at North Mason on Jan. 2; results were not available at press time. Sequim hosts Kingston on Jan. 5 and Olympic on Jan. 9, and takes on rival Port Angeles at home on Jan. 11.
