Sequim High senior Dawn Hulstedt, pictured here running at the Olympic League championships in Sequim on Oct. 24, competed in the class 2A cross country championship meet in Pasco on Nov. 9.

At the 2A cross country meet last weekend in Pasco, there were four Olympic Peninsula runners competing, including Sequim’s Dawn Hulstedt, a senior.

She placed 53rd in the girls’ race with a time of 20:37.6 while Port Angeles’ Leia Larson was 84th in 21:26.9 and Miriam Cobb was 107th in 22:12.4.

In the boys’ 2A race, Port Angeles’ Andre Campbell was 114th in a time of 17:52.9.

Hulstedt finished third at districts on Nov. 2, with a time of 20:21.9.

She qualified for the state cross country finals last season but was unable to participate due to an injury.

The East Jefferson boys cross-country team finished seventh (194 points) in the state 1A championships.

The Rivals had a trio of runners finish together at 26th, 27th and 28th

Joshua Yearian led the team in 26th place with a time of 16 minutes, 56.1 seconds. Right behind was teammate Noah Isenberg in 27th at 17:02.8 and Dustin Hines was 28th at 17:08.6.

Nico Errichetti was 56th at 17:46.0 and Rainier Smith Williams 57th in a time of 17:47.0.

Not counting toward the team score were Zeke Banks, who finished 90th in 18:59.6 and Atom Barrett, who was 98th in 19:25.3.

Cedar Park Christian won the state 1A title with 49 points.

East Jefferson had three girls at state, not enough for a full team score. Leah Ferland led the way, coming in 50th with a time of 21:19.7. Hilina Taylor-Lenz was 68th in a time of 21;44.7 and Michael Gregg 118th in a time of 23:25.3.
