Crisstepher MacRae Jr., third from left, is all smiles with dad Crisstepher MacRae Sr. and Clallam County Fire District 3 firefighters Jake Stanley, left, and Captain Kjel Skov, right, on Oct. 10. He was driven home after school in a fire engine for winning the Fire Escape Plan contest sponsored by the Sequim Gazette in partnership with Hi-Way 101 Diner and CCFD3.

Fourth-grader Crisstepher MacRae received a ride home from Helen Haller Elementary in a fire engine courtesy of Clallam County Fire District 3 firefighters on Oct. 10 for winning the Fire Escape Plan contest sponsored by the Sequim Gazette in partnership with Hi-Way 101 Diner and the fire district.

Crisstepher, who rode with his dad Crisstepher MacRae Sr., was super excited to ride in a fire truck for the first time, his mom Hayley Jennings said.

Crisstepher’s diagram of his family’s home showing an escape plan in case of a fire was selected along with Lucas Wright’s coloring page of a fire engine for the contest. Lucas will receive a firefighter action figure, and both children were named honorary assistant fire chiefs of prevention during Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 5-11.
