Here are Clallam County Environmental Health Services’ inspections in December of restaurants, schools, and food businesses.

Inspectors visited 52 establishments, and found 35 locations with perfect scores. They reinspected two locations and 17 establishments were found with varying violations.

(5-point deduction): High temperature dishwasher must be serviced to meet the manufacturer’s specifications of 180 degrees rinse for proper sanitizing; provide adequate testing methods for dish machine by Jan. 30, 2026. No follow-up required.

• Mariner Cafe, Inc., 609 W. Washington St., Suite 1, Sequim *

(5-point deduction): Person in charge must obtain a Certified Food Protection Manager certification by March 30, 2026; repair hot water supply leak by cookline hand sink repaired by Jan. 15, 2026. No follow-up required.

• Paradise Cafe, 703 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim

(5-point deduction): Must obtain Certified Food Protection Manager certificate by Dec, 31. No follow-up required.

• Shadowline Burgers and Brew, 179 W. Washington St., Sequim

(5-point deduction): Person in charge must obtain a Certified Food Protection Manager certification by Jan. 30, 2026. No follow-up required.

• The Beaver Grocery Store, 200361 W. Hwy 101 Beaver

(10-point deduction): Establishment must stop service or sale of reduced oxygen packaging (ROP) food and create an approved Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points plan for ROP food by Dec. 31. No follow-up required.

• Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula, Turner Unit, 2301 S. Francis St., Port Angeles

(10-point deduction): Soap and paper towels were not available at the dish wash hand sink (corrected during inspection). No follow-up required.

• Dynasty Chinese Restaurant, 380 E. Washington St.

(10-point deduction): Person in charge must obtain Certified Food Protection Manager certification; ensure employees are properly sanitizing cleaned equipment and utensils before they are reused, both issues by Jan. 30, 2026; repair sanitizer to mechanical dishwasher by Dec. 3. No follow-up required.

• Sergio’s Hacienda Family Mexican Restaurant, 205 E. Eighth St., Port Angeles

(10-point violation): Person in charge must obtain Certified Food Protection Manager certification by Dec. 26; shelves and wall near hand wash sink and dish pit need to be repaired to be smooth and easily cleanable by Dec. 31; also recommend adding more cold holding units as walk-in is full. No follow-up required.

• Taco Time Sequim, 110 River Road, Sequim

(10-point deduction): Ensure the designated person in charge is knowledgeable about foodborne disease prevention, and regulation requirements by Dec. 31; Beans read a temperature of 129 degrees and hot holding temperature is 135 degrees or higher (thrown out during inspection). No follow-up required.

• Las Palomas, 1085 E. Washington St., Sequim *

(15-point deduction): Person in charge is unable to demonstrate knowledge of the regulations to the regulatory authority representative; inadequate handwashing facilities; additional reinspection notes from Dec. 3 unavailable. On Nov. 18, the inspector noted that the person in charge is unable to demonstrate knowledge of the regulations to the regulatory authority representative by Dec. 31; repair hot water supply needed for hand sink by Dec. 2.

• Sequim Middle School, 301 W, Hendrickson Road

(10-point deduction): Employees were not aware of or are not monitoring cook temperatures of potentially hazardous food at 135 degrees or above, correct by Dec. 4; food temperature was recorded at 130 degrees and needed to be 135 degrees or higher, correct by Dec. 3.

• AFC Sushi at Safeway No. 1492, 110 E. Third St., Port Angeles

(15-point deduction): Person in charge present must demonstrate knowledge and perform duties to maintain active managerial control; imitation crab and imitation crab salad read 50 degrees and must be 41 degrees or less. Relocate food to a refrigeration unit that is capable of maintaining food storage at 41 degrees or below by Dec. 19. Follow-up required.

• Fyabes Mexican Cuisine LLC, 275 N. Forks Ave., Forks

(22-point deduction): Employees must properly sanitize clean multiuse equipment and utensils by Jan. 20; Have a restroom agreement or handwash station next to employee restroom by Dec. 31; handwash sink at the kitchen must only be used for washing hands by Dec. 31; person in charge must provide a food thermometer by Dec. 31; repair or replace the hood system to prevent grease or condensation from draining or dripping onto food, equipment, utensils, and more by Jan. 12. No follow-up required.

• Hess Mart, 17203 W. Highway 112, Clallam Bay

(25-point deduction): Person in charge must demonstrate knowledge of the regulations to the regulatory authority representative by Dec. 26; disposable paper towels must be provided at all hand washing sinks by Jan. 23, 2026; a distinct, separate water rinse after washing and before sanitizing of utensils and equipment must occur, by Dec. 19; ice machine’s food-contact surfaces must be sanitized before coming in contact with food and before use, by Dec. 22. No follow-up required.

• Downriggers Restaurant, 115 E. Railroad Ave., Suite 207, Port Angeles

(25-point deduction): Train all employees in food safety as it relates to their assigned duties by Dec. 24; cut lettuce and sliced turkey read 43 degrees at salad pantry cold table and must be 41 degrees or below; cheddar cheese and cooked asparagus on hot line read at 50 degrees and must be at 41 degrees or below; foods on ice need ice up to the level of the food; repair dish machine to dispense sanitizer to a concentration of 50-100 ppm, all by Dec. 18. No follow-up required.

• Ocean Star Inn, 801 E. Washington St., Sequim

(30-point deduction): Person in charge must demonstrate knowledge of the regulations to the regulatory authority representative; hot holding temperatures must be at 135 degrees (sausages discarded during inspection); dairy-milk-yogurt must be kept at 41 degrees or lower, correct all by Dec. 19. No follow-up required.

• SonGoku, 134 W. Front St., Port Angeles

(30-point deduction): Observation: Employees must be aware of how to practice proper methods to rapidly cool potentially hazardous food, correct by Dec. 30; rice seen cooling covered at 56 degrees must be cooled in an approved method, correct by Dec. 29. No follow-up required.
