‘Dine on the Dungeness’ returns

Fundraiser for River Center returns after two-year hiatus

After a two-year hiatus, The Dungeness River Nature Center is bringing back “Dine on the Dungeness,” an open-air dining experience/fundraiser.

The benefit dinner will take place on the Center’s outdoor plaza by — rather than on — the historic Railroad Bridge. It will take place on Friday, July 25, from 6-9 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

The last “Dine on the Dungeness” took place in 2023. Last year’s event was canceled because the bridge is in need of updates, according to Communications Coordinator Jennifer Waters-White.

While the bridge remains safe for daily use by visitors to the River Center and users of the Olympic Discovery Trail, she said, the River Center is taking extra precautions by choosing not to hold large events on it.

According to the River Center, the new riverside setting keeps the charm and ambiance of the Dungeness River while helping protect the historic bridge and enhancing accessibility for guests.

Seating is limited to 150 guests, with tickets priced at $160 per person or $960 for a table of six.

Each ticket includes a complimentary beverage.

The evening features a gourmet salmon dinner prepared on site by Chef Michael McQuay of Kokopelli Grill. Guests will dine on grilled salmon topped with pineapple salsa, roasted red potatoes, ratatouille, a dressed green salad, and a cookie for dessert.

A bar will offer wine, cider, beer, and Bedford sodas.

A new feature this year will be a silent auction featuring art, experiences, services, and unique items.

All proceeds will be used to support the River Center’s education programs and operational costs.

Those at the River Center advise reserving seats as soon as possible as the event often sells out quickly.

The Dungeness River Nature Center is located at 1943 W. Hendrickson Road in Sequim. The phone number there is 360-681-4076.
