Beuke Takes Second at Rowing championships

Elise Beuke, a Sequim High School senior, earned second place at the NW Indoor Rowing Championships on Jan. 31 at Magnuson Park in Seattle. Beuke (back row, fifth from left) competed against 76 other high school girls from Washington, Oregon and Idaho, in the 2,000-meter Junior Women event. Beuke completed the 2,000 meters in 7:03.2; Rosemary Brown from the Bainbridge Island Rowing Club edged Beuke for the title with a 6:58 finish. Beuke’s group, the Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association, had 14 entries in the age 11- to 14- Youth 500-meter race, with Jake McGovern earning the group’s top finish in third place (1:44.7).
