Sequim woman causes crash

An 82-year-old Sequim woman was charged with failure to yield in an accident in front of 7 Cedars Casino at about 6:30 p.m. July 2.

An 82-year-old Sequim woman was charged with failure to yield in an accident in front of 7 Cedars Casino at about 6:30 p.m. July 2.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Janet L. Hampton, driving a 2012 Honda, turned left and pulled out of the casino parking lot onto U.S. Highway 101 into the path of an eastbound 2003 Mitsubishi driven by Melanie Cable, Sequim. The vehicles came to rest in the westbound and eastbound lanes and the highway was blocked for an hour.

Hampton and her passenger Miki Kamauchi, 85, were transported to Olympic Medical Center with injuries. Cable also was injured and taken to OMC.

Her passengers, Margaret Ward, 15, and Westen Johnson, both of Sequim, were not injured. All were wearing seatbelts.
