Peninsula’s Pirates had plenty of fight in them, but it wasn’t enough to knock off No. 2-ranked Clackamas on the road in a 2-0 loss Sept. 24.
The Cougars’ Rachel Nevell opened the scoring at 29 minutes for the first half’s only score, and it stayed 1-0 until the 88th minute when Jennifer Jackson sealed the win.
Clackamas keeper Mellisa Ferguson earned the shutout.
The victory kept Clackamas (4-0-0, 5-2-0 overall) perfect in conference play.
The Pirates look to rebound when they host Tacoma at 2 p.m. on Sept. 29 and Chemeketa at noon on Oct. 2.
