Sequim warns of utility scam

In light of the recent utilities scam that has been detected in the City of Port Angeles, the City of Sequim wants to inform Sequim utility customers that the city does not use a collection agency to collect payment on current utility accounts.

The City of Port Angeles has received complaints from customers regarding calls from people claiming to represent a collection agency representing the city.

The party reportedly threatens to cut off electricity unless they receive immediate payment.

At this time, the City of Sequim has not received any complaint from customers regarding this scam.

If customers do receive such a call, they should report the call immediately to the Sequim Police Department at 683-7227.
