The Friends of Jefferson County Parks and Recreation are bringing a new race to the area on Aug. 22.

Valley of the Trolls is a 5k, 10k and half-marathon run/walk set for 9 a.m. starts on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Troll Haven/Bandy Farms, 950 Gardiner Beach Road. The event includes a Kids Sprint for Health.

Entry fees (before July 1) are $50 for the half marathon, $35 for the 10k and $25 for the 5k. Prices rise $5 for registrations July 2-Aug. 1 and another $5 for Aug. 2 — race day. Those 18 years and younger take $5 off their registration fee.

T-shirts are included in the fee if registered by Aug. 1; shirts are not guaranteed for those registering after that date.

All finishers receive a medal.

Awards are presented to the overall male and female, and master males and females in each event, as well as age groups (12 and younger, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80+).
