Port Townsend’s boys may be the top-ranked team in the 1A ranks, but the Olympic Trojans have a deep team.

The Trojans placed five runners in the top 11 to take the Olympic League dual meet with P.T. and Sequim at Fort Worden last week, while the host Redskins took advantage of Sequim star Audrey Lichten being ill to top the Wolves in the girls’ race.

Port Townsend’s Brittany Grant won the girls’ race, finishing the 2.25-mile course in 15:03. Sequim’s Jasmine McMullin was third overall, finishing in 15:41.

On the boys’ side, P.T.’s Bereket Piatt and Habtamu Rubio went 1-2 to pace the leaders while Alex Jenkins was Sequim’s top finisher, coming in at 12:13, about 45 seconds behind Piatt.

Sequim’s Adrian Clifford (12:34) was eighth and Joe Dapcevich (12:41) placed 12th.

The Wolves are at Port Angeles on Oct. 13 to take on the Roughriders and North Mason Bulldogs in the last regular season meet of the 2010 campaign.

Sequim hosts the Olympic League meet on Oct. 21 at The Cedars at Dungeness golf course.

Top league runners battle for state berths at the Westside Classic Oct. 30 in Tacoma.
