Businesses like the Sunshine Cafe were forced to close during a loss of electricity. The outage affected about 3,200 customers.
On Saturday, Feb. 20, power shut off to 3,200 customers on the west and south sides of Sequim for a few hours in the morning.
Jeff Beaman, executive communication coordinator for Clallam County Public Utility District said there was a problem with a relay switch at the Prairie substation near the U.S. Hwy 101 bypass on the west side of Sequim.
Utility workers restored four affected power lines at 11 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 11:45 a.m. and 12:18 p.m.
Beaman said the outage was unrelated to the power surge that occurred 6:10 p.m. Feb. 16, at the Happy Valley substation.
Several business owners closed their shops during the outage.
