About halfway through the Olympic League 2010 schedule, three teams have separated themselves from the pack as they vie for a league championship.

Sequim joined North Kitsap and Port Angeles atop the league standings after a 3-0 thrashing of Kingston on Oct. 7.

Sequim got nine aces, 23 assists and four digs from sophomore Taylor Balkan in sweeping the Kingston crew last week. Fellow soph Haleigh Harrison added seven kills and nine digs.

"Everyone was playing good defense and getting digs up in the court," Sequim coach Jennie Webber Heilman said.

Balkan’s nine aces are a team high this season and the Wolves’ 26 aces came close to the 30-ace school mark.

The Wolves were scheduled to take on the No. 10-ranked North Kitsap Vikings in Poulsbo on Oct. 12 – results were unavailable at press time.

Sequim hosts Port Townsend on Oct. 14 before a showdown at Port Angeles on Oct. 19.

The Wolves then close out their 2010 home campaign against Olympic on Oct. 21 before ending the regular season in Silverdale on Oct. 26 against Klahowya.
