Sequim High senior Brendon Despain was selected the All-Peninsula Boys Cross Country MVP by area coaches and the Peninsula Daily News sports staff, and Sequim took five of the six places on the list.

Despain raced to a ninth-place finish at the class 2A state cross country meet in November, helping Sequim’s Wolves to a third-place finish and second top-three finish in as many seasons.

Despain also ran away with the Olympic League individual title and a week later helped the Wolves win their third consecutive West Central District title.

Other Sequim runners named to the All-Peninsula Boys Cross Country Team include seniors Chris

Jeffko, Wendall Lorenzen and Jackson Oliver, freshman Ash Francis, plus Coach of the Year Harold Huff.

Alan Ensastegui, a senior at Forks High, was the only other athlete selected for the team.
