Symphony debuts final candidate

The Port Angeles Symphony presents Matthew Savery as its last conductor candidate for the season at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Port Angeles High School Auditorium, 304 E. Park Ave, Port Angeles.
Pianist Deborah Rambo Sinn will perform with the orchestra.
Audience members will have the opportunity to complete a written evaluation form and their assessment is very important to the orchestra board in determining who will be the next music director and conductor of the orchestra.
Now in his 21st season as music director of the Bozeman Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Choir and continuing in his seventh season as music director of the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra, Savery enjoys an expanding reputation for his multi-faceted career as an electrifying performer, dedicated orchestra builder and charismatic teacher.
A native of Western Massachusetts, Savery graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music and received his Master of Music Degree from the University of Michigan. While at the University of Michigan, Savery was the founding music director of the University Campus Chamber Orchestra; subsequently, he served as music director of the Comic Opera Guild of Ann Arbor.
In 2001 he made a notable debut with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, opening its acclaimed summer series at Conner Prairie. Savery was a member of the first class of the International Institute for Conductors in Kiev, Ukraine, and has led that country’s National Symphony Orchestra in public performance.
Rambo Sinn has given concerts and master classes on four continents and has taught students from more than 14 different countries. From 1996-2001, she lived in Hamburg, Germany, where she played concerts and musicals and operated two music studios for coaching and private instruction.
In 1990, her piano/cello duo was invited by the government of Mainland China to give concerts and master classes in four major cities. She currently is serving as the 2014-2015 Maxwell C. Weiner Distinguished Professor in Humanities at University of Missouri for Science and Technology.
She holds a doctorate and master’s degree in music from Indiana University. In 2004, she founded the Olympic Music School in Sequim.
Tickets prices are: 10 a.m. final rehearsal: $5 Individual, $10 Family; 7:30 p.m. concert general seating: $15 adults/$12 seniors and students; reserved seating: $30/$20; free to 16 and younger accompanied by an adult.
