In the best and worst conditions, Sequim’s golf squads keep finding a way to win.

Last Tuesday, Sequim boys hosted Chimacum and North Kitsap in blustery and wet conditions for a narrow win.

Jack Shea and Travis Priest both shot 39s at The Cedars at Dungeness followed by Alex McCracken at 41 with Jade Arnold at 44 for 163.

Chimacum’s Jack Hilt hit a 40 with Marcus Bufford and Drew Yackvlic both shooting a 42 and Colton Shaw, 43 for 167, and Kellen Fitz led North Kitsap with a 46 for a team score of 213.

The girls squad stayed consistent in the conditions, too, with a 98-34 point win over North Kitsap the same day.

Alex McMenamin led all shooters again with 41 on nine holes followed by freshman Sarah Shea at 47, and Brianna Kettel and Sydney Balkan hitting 53s. Annika Hald led the Vikings hitting a 60.

The day before at The Cedars, McMenamin shot one stroke better (40) to lead Sequim to a 97-96 point win. Balkan shot second for the Wolves at 50 while Megan O’Mera went for 51 and Kettel and Shea shared a 53.

Ellie Wolfe led the Trojans with a 47 followed by Lucy Winters (48), Tate Tohiki (49) and Abby Magee (52).

On April 23, the boys competed in the Tim Higgins Memorial at Kitsap Country Club.

Sequim tied for second with Central Kitsap and South Kitsap with a four-player score of 354. Port Angeles won the title with a four-player score of 334. Jack Shea tied for seventh with an 83 while McCracken went for 89, and McMenamin competing with the boys, shot a 91, as did Priest.

The boys and girls hosted Bremerton on April 28 at The Cedars and the boys traveled to Port Ludlow on Tuesday. On Friday, the boys compete at Peninsula Golf Club for the Duke Streeter Invite.
