College Foundation gets big boost from Sequim resident

The Peninsula College Foundation is the recipient of a gift of more than $17,000 from the Clallam Community Foundation administered by United Way of Clallam County.

The gift, totaling $17,323.22, is from a charitable gift annuity established by the late Helen Miller of Sequim within the Clallam Community Foundation.

At the time the annuity was established, it was Miller’s intent to create a charitable remainder trust through United Way to benefit an endowed scholarship at Peninsula College, named the Richard A. & Helen M. Miller Endowed Scholarship Fund.

According to Getta Rogers, Peninsula College Foundation development manager, the contribution is shy of the $25,000 minimum required to fund an endowed scholarship, but the gift will be kept intact and continue to grow through investment earnings and contributions from other donors who share Miller’s vision of assisting students who have plans to major in the fields of mathematics or engineering.
