Tyler James Townsend will serve 10 days in jail for burglarizing a Sequim tattoo parlor during a blackout.

Townsend, 19, of Sequim, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree burglary in connection with the Nov. 29 break-in at the Tattoo Guy shop on Washington Street.

Police said Townsend used a rock to smash the glass in the front of the building, then entered and stole several items, including a paint- ball gun valued at $2,800. The business sustained damage estimated in excess of $1,500, police said.

Jordan Hartman and a juvenile are accused of participating in the burglary and face similar charges.

Townsend originally was charged with second-degree burglary, second-degree malicious mischief and second-degree theft. The other charges were dropped as part of a plea bargain.

A total sentence of 30 days’ confinement was imposed, with 20 days converted to 160 hours of community service. Additionally, Townsend will spend two years in community custody and is not allowed within 50 feet of the Tattoo Guy shop.

Townsend also faces three counts of malicious mischief and taking a motor vehicle without permission in two separate cases.
