Olympic Peninsula history class

Classes on Olympic Peninsula history hosted by the Sequim Museum and Arts Center through Peninsula College are at the historical Dungeness Schoolhouse at Sequim-Dungeness Way and Towne Road.

The classes are from 10 a.m.-noon on eight Fridays beginning Jan. 8.

The scheduled topics are:

_ Jan. 8 – "Sequim Yesterday," Doug McInnes

_ Jan. 15 – "Olympic Peninsula’s Nine Tribes – Their History of Trade, Religion, Warfare and Kinship," members of the Olympic Peninsula Intertribal Cultural Advisory Committee

_ Jan. 22 – "Barns & Farms – Then and Now," Catherine Bennett and Bob Clark

_ Jan. 29 – "History of Railroads in Clallam County," Steve Hauff

_ Feb. 5 – "The Manis Mastodon – Archeological Site," Clare Manis Hatler. This class meets at the Museum Exhibit Building, 175 W. Cedar St., Sequim

_ Feb. 12 – "The Life of Lloyd Beebe and How Olympic Game Farm Came to Be," Alice and Robert Beebe

_ Feb. 19 – "Triangle of Defense – Fort Casey, Fort Worden and Fort Flagler," Terry Buchanan

_ Feb. 26 – "Pioneers Recollecting Their Early School Days," Bob Clark, Mary Hermann, Margaret Lotzgesell, Ed Maybee and Esther Nelson.
