The finishing touches are coming close at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St.
This week crews with Lydig Construction and its subcontractors continue painting and installing light fixtures, flooring and plumbing. The elevator is expected to be finished, too, said Ed Griffith, project superintendent.
Crews recently completed painting one side of the building three shades of red and orange, which will appear on three sides of the center while three shades of green will go on the north side of the building.
Furnishings, at cost of about $680,000, including high density storage furniture, chairs, desks and $150,000 of IT equipment, will arrive and be installed April 6 and into subsequent weeks.
The move-in date into the $14.45 million facility tentatively is set to begin May 11 with a May 1 open house coinciding with the beginning of the Sequim Irrigation Festival and First Friday Art Walk.
The Sequim City Council’s first meeting in the building tentatively is slated for June 8 with a grand opening on June 12.
