Dr. Carolyn DeSalvo will be hosting a cooking demonstration, “Creative Breakfast Ideas for the Anti-Inflammatory Diet.” at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at 346 N. Sequim Ave. Come and learn how to incorporate healthy vegetables, fruits and whole grains in a quick and delicious way, and avoid processed foods for breakfast. Come hungry as you will sample the foods and recipes will be provided. A small fee will be charged and reservations are required as space is limited.

Fit4Life instructor gets training
Fit4Life Studio TRX (Suspension Training) instructor Brenda Cantelow completed the TRX Rip Trainer Course in Seattle this month. Cantelow also is TRX and Functional Fitness TRX qualified. Nash’s hosts probiotics class
Nash’s Farm Store will be hosting Julie Kamin-Martin of Oly-Cultures in Olympia for a mini-class in probiotics and the importance of a healthy digestive system from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at Nash’s Farm Store, 4681 Sequim-Dungeness Way. Kamin-Martin’s class will focus on fermented drinks such as kombucha, and milk and water kefir. Learn to make your own with starter kits and instructions. Tourism summit set
The Olympic Peninsula Tourism Summit will be Thursday-Friday, Oct. 27-28, at Fort Worden in Port Townsend with the theme of “Honoring the Authenticity of Place.” Thursday is Culinary Day and it kicks off with the Olympic Culinary Loop offering a panel of speakers discussing “farm to fork” businesses; Tourism Day is Friday and starts with keynote speaker Leif Whittaker talking about “Exploring Wild Places: Stories of Adventure from the Summit of Everest to the Olympic Peninsula.” Elaine Grinnell, a Jamestown S’Klallam elder, will share her passion of “What This Land Means.” Showcase your business to tourism professionals from across the peninsula and beyond.
