The Old Sidekicks perform at the Sequim Prairie Grange Hall from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday, April 16, for your dancing and listening pleasure. Cost is $10 per person and food will be provided.
The Grange Hall is at 290 Macleay Road, Sequim.
Writing group on tap
Join other writers for spontaneous writing from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Monday, April 17, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave. The free session is designed for writers who want to get their creative juices flowing, organizers say.
Writers are welcome regardless of experience. Bring paper and pen; no electronic devices. Prompts are provided. Group leaders encourage participants read what they write, but it is not required. The group, hosted by Ruth Marcus (Rmarcus@olypen.com), is the third Monday monthly.
‘A Plastic Ocean’ film shows at PC
Peninsula College’s Magic of Cinema next presentation is a feature-length adventure documentary that brings to light the consequences of a global disposable lifestyle. “A Plastic Ocean” shows at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 13, in Maier Performance Hall on campus. The screening will be followed by a 30-minute panel discussion with representatives from several conservation agencies. Local marine debris artist Sarah Tucker will display some of her sculptures at the event which is free and open to the public. Auditions slated at PC for Dungeons/Dragons
Peninsula College invites students and the community to audition for “Whose Gorgon Is It Anyway?” from 6-7:30 p.m. April 13-14 in the Little Theater at PC. The show will mix elements of the fast-paced Dungeons and Dragons world, with improv actors simultaneously acting things out on stage. Auditions are open to PC students and members of the community and will consist of a series of acting games. No prepared material or cold material will be expected and no experience is required with improv or Dungeons and Dragons.

Sequim artist has work in Port Townsend exhibit
Visual artist Susan Gansert Shaw announces that she is showing a body of her work at Quimper Unitarian Universalist Church, 2333 San Juan Ave., Port Townsend, through June. She lives and creates on the North Olympic Peninsula exhibiting her watercolor and mixed media pieces in her studio at Rock Hollow Farm. The studio is open by appointment. Trio plays at Maier Hall
The sounds of the recorder, violin and harpsichord will fill Maier Performance Hall at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, when Peninsula College’s Maier Hall Concert Series presents the Seattle-based Ensemble Electra from Seattle. The concert features musicians Vicki Boeckman (recorder), Tekla Cunningham (violin) and Jillon Stoppels Dupree (harpsichord).
