Sequim Police Detective Devin McBride recently was awarded Healthy Families of Clallam County’s annual Gratitude Award by Healthy Families of Clallam County.

The award is given to individuals or organizations demonstrating a commitment to responding to domestic and sexual violence as well as child abuse and neglect. Recipients have worked above and beyond in services, treatment and compassion for victims of these heinous crimes.

McBride was awarded this prestigious community award for his work as a child forensic interviewer. In a press release from the Sequim Police, McBride was noted for “continually applying himself to this noble calling in a dedicated and compassionate manner,” that he “continuously showcases his ability to connect with victims and diligently works with the Prosecutors Office to ensure victims are returned a voice, and (that) perpetrators are held accountable.”

Other recipients of the 2017 awards were: David, Meghan and Ella Ventura of Phoenix Dragon Martial Arts in Port Angeles; Edna Peterson and the staff at Necessities and Temptations in Port Angeles; Port Angeles Police Sgt. Tyler Peninger; the Port Angeles Fire Department; Healthy Families therapist Stephen Taylor, and supervisory resident agent for U.S. Homeland Security Investigations Edward Bluhm.
