Sequim’s Greywolf Elementary School is in the state spotlight once again for academic achievement.

The school recently received two Washington Achievement Awards for 2016 in the categories of High Progress and Special Recognition for Math Growth.

Washington Achievement Awards are based on statewide assessment data for the three previous years.

Greywolf Elementary was represented at an awards ceremony in Auburn on May 3 by district instructional coach Pam Landoni, para-educator Linda Sundquist, fifth-grade teacher Teresa Iversen, first-grade teacher Leigh Ann Koenig and kindergarten teacher Kelli Mishko.

The school has won an Washington Achievement Award four consecutive years.

Donna Hudson is Greywolf’s principal.

“Donna Hudson and her team have proven that data-driven, effective systems primarily designed to benefit students produce the best outcomes for children,” assistant superintendent Ann Renker said. “We can all learn a lot from the Greywolf story.”

“Shout-outs (go) to the staff at Greywolf for consistent performance at the top of the state’s pyramid, to the staff at Helen Haller Elementary for phenomenal growth and gains in proficiency in math, and to the staff at Sequim High School for increased growth in 2015-16.

“A special shout-out goes to the English Language Arts Department at Sequim High School for leading outstanding student growth in 2015-2016,” Renker said.
