Sequim Middle School students enjoy an outdoor classroom: Joining Dungeness River Audubon Center director Powell Jones, left, in some landscaping work last week are Sequim Middle School students Lucas Lawrence, Kaila Spaulding and Claire D’Amico. Students analyzed the story of the Elwha River by watching the locally produced “Return of the River” and connected those lessons with a field trip to Railroad Bridge Park. Students learned about salmon life cycles, survival traits of local animals, and (as pictured above) stewardship of their local park habitat. The field trip was sponsored by the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe and Dungeness River Audubon Center.
