Sequim jazz, blues club sets first meeting
Members of Lavender Jazz and Blues Society, a new music club in Sequim, is set for 6:15-6:45 p.m. Monday, June 19, in the meeting room at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.
The meeting which is free of charge and open to all interested parties.

Buck Ellard, company plays the grange hall
The Buck Ellard Band will be performing at the Sequim Prairie Grange Hall from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday, June 18. The cost is $10 per person; food is provided. The Grange Hall is at 290 Macleay Road in Sequim.
Christie to speak on mammoth tooth find
The Clallam County Gem &Mineral Association announces that Lori Christie will provide information and details about her recent discovery of a mammoth tooth at a Sequim public beach.
The presentation will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, at the 5th Avenue Retirement Center, 500 W. Hendrickson Road, Sequim, in the second floor conference room.

Heritage center screens ‘Trudell’ documentary
The Elwha Klallam Heritage Center, 401 E. First St., Port Angeles, hosts a screening of the documentary “Trudell” from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 21.
The film traces the life of American Indian activist and poet John Trudell from his childhood in Omaha, Neb., through his role as a leader of the American Indian Movement. It also covers his rebirth as a musician and spoken word poet after his wife died in a house fire suspected as arson.
Heather Rae produced and directed the film, which took her more than a decade to complete. “Trudell” aired nationally in on April 11, 2006, as part of the Independent Lens series on PBS.

Connect your art via social media in PA
Learn how to use social media to connect with other artists, promote and sell work, and share artwork with the world at a Social Media Art Workshop set for 5-7 p.m. Saturday, June 24, at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
Mike Biskup will share his experiences with social media and will walk attendees through steps of creating a social media presence.
He also will help them create a personal social media strategy and help make Instagram simple to understand.
Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop computer, iPad or cellphone.

PA Library’s summer kickoff reading event set
Learn how you can Build a Better World at the 2017 Summer Reading kickoff event at the Port Angeles Library, 2200 S. Peabody St., from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, June 17.
The event will feature hands-on activities organized by the Hands On Children’s Museum of Olympia and a volunteer fair geared toward adults and teens.
Sign up for the 2017 Summer Reading Program at your local library, learn about volunteer activities in the community and visit interactive building stations.
When signing up for the Summer Reading Program, participants of all ages will receive a free book as well as the opportunity to earn a special NOLS T-shirt and a chance at winning grand prizes.
