Stuff the Bus, Sequim’s annual school supplies donation drive, kicks off Thursday, July 27.

This year’s drive is organized by Kiwanis Club of Sequim-Dungeness, in partnership with Sequim’s Back to School Fair Planning Committee.

Donation bins where school supplies can be dropped off will be at Sequim Community Church (950 N. Fifth Ave.), Walmart (1284 W. Washington St.), KSQM 91.5 FM Radio Station headquarters (577 W. Washington St. Ste. C) and JCPenney (651 W. Washington St.) through Aug. 11.

Monetary donations may be dropped off at the Boys &Girls Club of Sequim (400 W. Fir St.) or online at bgcop.org/donate.

Specific school supply lists by grade are available on each school’s webpage, which can be accessed from www. sequim.k12.wa.us.

School supplies also may be dropped off at the Sequim School District’s administration office, 503 N. Sequim Ave. The district office is open throughout summer from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Thursday.

Stuff the Bus culminates in an annual event from 2-6 p.m. Friday Aug. 11, at the Sequim Walmart. During this time, a school bus is parked on site, with a school bus driver on hand to provide information about bus routes and school transportation. At the store’s entrance, shoppers may pick up a list of school supplies needed. Shoppers may choose to purchase items from the list to drop in collection bins at the store’s main entrance as they leave.

Information about Back to School activities and events also will be available.

Collected school supplies are made available to Sequim families in need at the fifth-annual Back to School Fair set for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Boys &Girls Club in Sequim. This event brings together a wide range of resources and activities to help all families prepare for the new school year.

Sponsors are now being sought for the Back to School Fair. Sponsorship money is used primarily toward purchasing backpacks and school supplies. Booth vendors for the fair also are needed to offer activities, services and information. Volunteers for the day of the event are needed to help set up and facilitate activities. Call Janet Gray, Boys &Girls Club resource development director, at 683-8095 for more information.
