Fun won’t be tabled at Boys & Girls Club

A deteriorating games room at the Sequim Boys & Girls Club led volunteer Stephen Rosales to take action.

He’s nearing a $13,000 total to replace or repair games, equipment and infrastructure in the club.

Wear and tear led to pool tables ripping, foosball men breaking, no air coming out of the air hockey table and more.

Rosales already has or plans to:

_ Replace gym lights and switches with energy efficient bulbs and system

_ Resurface gym floor

_ Put new carpet in game room

_ Add three pool tables

_ Three foosball tables

_ Two air hockey tables

_ One pingpong table

Dr. Agnieska Niemeyer, a dermatologist, and her husband Dr. Matthew Niemeyer, an ophthalmologist, were the first to donate by giving $1,000.

"Whatever we can do to get more money into the playroom and to the kids is worth it," Niemeyer said.

Rosales said he needs about $3,000 more.

He wants to reach out to people who normally don’t give to the club.

"There are people out there who want to see a project finished," Rosales said.

This fundraiser is separate from Campaign for Kids that runs through Aug. 31, benefiting both Port Angeles and Sequim clubs’ activities and operations.
