Greg Scherer directs Olympic Theatre Art’s production of the musical “Starting Here, Starting Now,” and has cast the trio of Christy Holy, Cathy Marshall and Josh Sutcliffe.
With Emmy Award nominated melodies in what The New York Times called “A life-enhancing grab bag of super-songs,” the production explores the humorous, joyful, melancholy and angry ups-and-downs of city romances.
Holy is a recent transplant from Los Angeles, Calif., bringing with her 13 years of performance experience southern California style, as well as two degrees in the performing arts. Some of her favorite roles include Betty Gow in “Violet Sharp,” Annie in “Table Manners” and Pam in “Tomfoolery.”
Marshall has performed since childhood in more than 40 theater productions as well as her share of radio and television commercials. She has been seen at OTA in “Squabbles,” “Something’s Afoot” and “Spoon River Anthology.”
The last musical Sutcliffe was in was called “Inferno Beach” — about a hotel employee who falls in love with one of the guests who happens to be on vacation from hell — staged in Chicago. Local theater-goers may have seen him more recently at OTA in “The Explorers Club,” “The Spoon River Anthology” and “The Importance of Being Earnest.”
”Starting Here, Starting Now” runs from March 16-25 at OTA. For more information on this and other productions, call the theatre at 360-683-7326 or visit www.olympictheatrearts.org.
