Two more Wolves advanced to the 2A state tournament after standout performances at the West Central Districts Tournament at the Golf Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton on May 19.

Seniors Brianna Kettel and Kailee Price made the cut for state shooting 90 (45, 45) and 93 (47, 46) taking the No. 2 and No. 4 spots. Kettel shot season lows while Price shot on pace with her best rounds of the year.

They’ll join Alex McMenamin at the 2A state golf championship on May 27-28 at the MeadowWood Golf Course in Spokane. McMenamin qualified straight to state two weeks prior, winning the Olympic League Tournament.

McMenamin placed third last year as a freshman and opens the tournament in the first group at 7:35 a.m. Wednesday with Grace Frazier of Clarkston, who tied for 12th last year, and freshman Kenedee Peters of Ephrata High School. Kettel and Price play later in separate groups.

Freshman Sarah Shea just missed out on a state berth at districts by two strokes shooting a 101 (55, 46). She shot her way onto the varsity squad after three matches earlier in the season.

For the boys, Alex McCracken and Jade Arnold came close to a state berth shooting 95 (44, 51) and 100 (52, 48) with state alternates shooting 91 and 92.

Jack Shea and Travis Priest directly qualified for state at the Olympic League Tournament with Shea winning it all and Priest winning a three-way playoff to take the final spot straight to state.

They’ll play May 27-28 also in Spokane at the Liberty Lake Golf Course.

Shea will tee off with the first group at 7:30 a.m. against last year’s state champion Matt Maresse of Sammamish and Nick Nolan of Bellingham who placed 12th. Priest will tee off later in the morning. Shea and Priest missed the second day cut last year at state.
