Students share books across Sequim for Read Across America Day

Hundreds of students bussed and marched along school campuses and across Sequim to share some good books on Read Across America Day.

See a slideshow from the event here.

Sequim High Schoolers joined Helen Haller Elementary classrooms to read books for about 30 minutes on March 2 while eighth graders from Sequim Middle School rode to Greywolf Elementary in Carlsborg to read with younger students too.

Students shared books of all kinds including classics like Dr. Seuss’ library, graphic novels like “Smile,” and other contemporary favorites like “Pete the Cat.”

The event continued Sequim School District’s tradition of participating in the National Education Association’s annual event celebrating the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss.

Read Across America is a year-round reading motivation program with more information available at www.readacrossamerica.org.
