Dog dies in Woodcock Road house fire

No one was injured in a Sunday afternoon house fire on Woodcock Road but the resident’s dog died despite firefighters’ attempts at modified CPR.
No damage estimate was available Sunday night and the fire’s cause remains under investigation.
Clallam County Fire District 3 personnel responded at 1:30 p.m. Sunday Dec. 27 to the house fire at 2161 Woodcock Road.
They arrived to see smoke and flames coming from the kitchen window and eaves.
Firefighters first attacked the fire through the kitchen window and then entered the kitchen after more personnel arrived.
The fire was confined to the kitchen, which sustained heavy fire and smoke damage.
No one was home when a Seattle firefighter, who was passing by and saw the smoke and flames, knocked on the door.
But an unconscious dog belonging to the resident, Sean Taylor, was located inside the house.
Firefighters brought the dog outside and attempted modified CPR with an oxygen mask and chest compressions but were unable to save it.
The dog belonged to the house’s resident, Sean Taylor, who is renting it from the Jamestown S’Kallam Tribe.
Two engines, two water tenders, an aid unit and a rescue truck responded along with 14 firefighters. A Clallam PUD crew had to turn off the house’s power.
