Sequim artists join others at Port Hadlock ‘Fiber’ exhibit

Garments, quilts, collages and wall hangings are among the 40 pieces in “Under the Influence of Fiber,” a two-month exhibit opening Jan. 13 at the Old Alcohol Plant in Port Hadlock with a complimentary 3-5 p.m. reception that day.

Organized by the North Olympic chapter of the Surface Design Association, the exhibit includes the work of 25 artists from Sequim, Port Angeles, Port Townsend, Chimacum, Nordland, Port Ludlow and Bainbridge Island. Among the techniques illustrated in the work are several forms of dyeing, embroidery, beading, weaving, felting, transfer of photographic images, paper-making and fabric manipulation.

Several pieces in the exhibit are available for purchase. The show, which closes March 17, can be visited during Old Alcohol Plant hours, 8 a.m.-9 p.m. daily.

Sequim artists exhibiting include Linda Carlson, Kathie Cook, Liisa Fagerlund, Susanne Scott and Marla Varner.

For more information about the Surface Design Association, which welcomes visitors to its meetings, see the North Olympic chapter’s website (sda-np.com) and Facebook page (facebook.com/groups/SDA.NP).
