Milestone: First Step celebrates season with meal, donations

First Step Family Support Center held their Client Holiday Party on Dec. 6 at the Vern Burton Community Center, attended by more than 470 parents and children. More than 70 volunteers — including the Peninsula College men’s and women’s basketball and soccer teams — pitched in to help make it a success. A turkey dinner complete with all of the fixings and cake was served. Children had the opportunity to make ornaments, pick out books donated by the Literacy Council, take home and select gifts for their parents, and have a visit and pictures with Santa.
