Former Sequim City Manager Bill Elliott was named July 14 as city manager of Estacada, Ore., a city of 2,700 people about 30 miles southeast of Portland, Ore.
Elliott was one of four finalists from 47 applicants.
He will begin as city manager on Aug. 3, taking over a position that has been vacant since April 24.
"He was a front-runner from the beginning and stood out amongst the other candidates," said Estacada Mayor Becky Arnold.
Elliott was hired as
Sequim’s city manager in July 2001.
He was fired May 5, 2008, by a 4-1 vote of the council. Councilor Walt Schubert left before the vote, Councilor Paul McHugh voted no and Councilor Bill Huizinga was absent.
"I’m really sorry to see him go. It is a big loss
for the community," said Schubert.
