Avalanche takes May Day tourney

There was no stopping the Olympic Avalanche as the team rolled to a win in the girls eighth-grade division at the Port Angeles Parks & Recreation’s MayDay Roundball youth basketball tournament, held April 30-May 1.
Hannah Reetz scored a game-high 16 points in a 64-13 thrashing of Chimacum in game one.
In game two, Emilia Long had 13 points and three steals as Olympic topped Portland 50-20.
In game three, the rematch with Portland wasn’t any closer as Jaida Wood scored 10 points in a 53-21 Avalanche victory.
In the fourth game, Olympic ran away from Chimacum once again 63-21, with Reetz (17 points, seven steals) and Madison Cooke (14 points, nine rebounds) leading the way.
