PC names new VP for instruction

Dr. Steven L. Thomas has been named Peninsula College’s new Vice President for Instruction, the college announced last week.

The position was previously held by Dr. Sharon Buck, who retired in April of this year.

Thomas is an educator with over 25 years of teaching and leadership experience in both K-12 and post-secondary education. His professional career includes successful experiences as a K-12 teacher, researcher, policy analyst, college faculty member and higher education executive. Most recently, he served as the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Special Assistant to the President at Harford Community College.

Thomas begins work at PC on July 1.

PC offers financial aid information sessions

Peninsula College’s financial aid staff offer a brief overview and update to Washington’s College Grant program, followed by a financial aid workshop and question-and-answer session in online Zoom sessions throughout the month of June.

Running Start meeting set

Peninsula College will host a virtual Running Start Information Night via Zoom at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23.

The event is free and open to the public. Students and parents who wish to attend the event should sign up at pencol.formstack.com/forms/rs_info_session_zoom.

The event is designed to provide prospective Running Start students and their parents with more about the program and how high school juniors and seniors can earn college credit, tuition-free.
