Pop-up PAFAC event features floral art
Art in Bloom, a special pop-up event scheduled at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, will feature floral designs in response to the center’s current exhibition of art by founder Esther Webster.
On Saturday-Sunday, April 17-18, gallery visitors will be able to enjoy original floral designs paired with the paintings that inspired them. Art in Bloom is open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and is free to the public. This year’s event is scheduled earlier than usual in order to coordinate with the “Creating a Scene” exhibition.
Art in Bloom will return to Mother’s Day weekend in 2022.
Designers participating in this year’s event will include Bernice Cook, Tina Cozzolino, Pam Ehtee, Billie Fitch, Leiann Niccoli, Mary Lou Paulsen, Mary Lou Waitz and Patty Wheatley. All are members of the Olympic Peninsula Judges Council of the Washington State Federation of Garden Clubs.

Writer’s group meets April 15
The Olympic Peninsula Christian Writer’s Group meets at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 15, on Zoom. All are welcome to join the meeting.

Walk-by textile exhibit set in PT
“Past and Present Quilts” is the new display at 675 Tyler St., Port Townsend, in the walk-by exhibit of the North Olympic Chapter of the Surface Design Association.
Created or collected by eight textile artists, the 25 pieces on view through May include art quilts and patchwork, some dating from the 1940s and 1950s, pieced by great-great aunts and grandmothers.
Some are hand-stitched and some are made with hand-dyed fabric.
Participating artists and collectors include Sequim’s Linda Carlson and Kathie Cook, Port Ludlow’s Jeri Auty, and Port Townsend artists Leslie Dickinson, Sue Gale, Pat Herkal, Debra Olson and Mary Tyler.
Information on the quilts is posted in the window and on the chapter’s website: sda-np.com. The North Olympic chapter normally meets monthly, with meetings rotated between Sequim, Port Angeles and Port Townsend.
