Volunteer Chore Services: Assists low-income elderly and disabled adults with home maintenance and essential transportation.
Mission statement: Volunteer Chore Services is a program of Catholic Community Services of Western Washington. The CCS Mission Statement says, "Catholic Community Services is a faith-based and values-driven outreach of the Catholic Church in Western Washington.
"Under the leadership of Archbishop Alex J. Brunett and the board of trustees, our staff and volunteers answer the Gospel call to loving and compassionate service with particular concern for the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death and for the dignity of every human person.
"The workers of CCS and AHA (Archdiocese Housing Authority) come from many faith traditions and actively respond to the call of the Catholic Church in Western Washington to serve those most in need."
Service area: Clallam County
People served: VCS volunteers provide nearly 12,000 hours of service to 150+ clients each year.
Annual budget/United Way funding: 2008-2009 budget, $86,145; United Way of Clallam County funded 13.3 percent.
