Community members are invited to take a leisurely stroll with Master Gardeners on a “Walk-About” set for 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, through Woodcock Demonstration Garden, 2711 Woodcock Road.
The special feature of this tour will be the gardeners’ dahlia garden, which had a slow start due to a cool wet spring but is blooming now. Dahlias are always a favorite for making beautiful arrangements, Master Gardeners said, and are labeled for visitors’ information.
The garden’s newly-designed winter garden is taking form and each month has new additions. The vegetable gardens are producing in large quantities for the food bank and the roses are loving this warm weather, Master Gardeners said.
The garden also features new self-guided tour brochures that identifies each garden. Visitors are invited to bring a bagged lunch and sit and enjoy the shade of a tree or at a table in the garden’s pavilion after the tour.
The Woodcock Demonstration Garden is a 2.74-acre site open daily to the public for free.
