Sequim Gazette photo by Matthew Nash/ Dick Wolf of Sequim chats with Alan Melrose of Kent during a club tour of Wolf’s garden railroad for the Puget Sound Garden Railway Society on Sept. 17. Wolf and his wife Evelyn started with G-scale (garden) trains in 1999 after discovering a magazine about the hobby, Dick said.

The D&E Railroad near Carlsborg, a G-scale model train track in Dick and Evelyn Wolf’s garden, opened its gates for about 30 club members of the Puget Sound Garden Railway Society on Sept. 17.

The club visited the North Olympic Peninsula Railroaders’ Train Show at the Clallam County Fairegrounds earlier in the morning before seeing a garden railroad in Port Angeles, and then the Wolf’s track and garden installation.

The Wolf family started their railroad in 2000 and refurbished it this summer with help from family, friends and more.

Dick, 89, said the railroad features buildings and places named after their seven children, 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
