The Klahhane Gymnastics had a busy weekend in early March, with the girls’ team competing at the Skookum Showdown on March 10 and March 12, while the Klahhane boys competed at the Washington State Championships on March 11.
The entire girls in headed to the state championships in Pasco March 31 -April 2, Klahhane coach Jan Urfer noted, with 1,700 Xcel Gymnasts from across the state scheduled to compete.
For the Klahhane girls on march 10, Elyse Brown led the Gold Team with five medals, earning first place in all-around (37.600 points) in the Junior B age group. Brown picked additional gold meals on the vault (9.4), uneven bars (9.475) and balance beam (9.400), and a bronze medal on the floor exercise (9.325).
Raynee Ciarlo placed third on vault in the same age group (9.000). Dalen Williams finished third on floor (9.200) and fourth in all-around scoring (35.250).
Harper Hilliker and Gracelyn Goss earned individual medals in the Junior A age group. Hilliker finished second on the vault (8.700) and second on Floor (9.175), Goss taking placing fourth on vault and uneven bars with scores of 6.675 on both events.
In the Platinum Division, Scarlett Sullivan led the group with a third place finish in the all-around (36.675) and a silver medal on the floor exercise (9.300). Mariah Traband finished third on uneven bars (9.050) and fifth all-around (35.350). Kira Hartman had a 34.075 score in all-around to qualify for the state meet in Pasco (March 31-April 2). Lucy Spelker came back with an individual third place medal on the floor exercise (9.150) and fifth all-around (35.700).
On March 12, Klahhane’s Bronze Team wrapped up the weekend with another excellent performance at the Skookum Showdown bringing back 30 top-three medals. Lainey DePiro claimed the group’s highest score of the day with 38.100 in the Senior A age group all-around, finishing first on vault (9.600), second on bars (9.6.00), second on beam (9.400) and first on floor (9.500).
CarlyMae Riggs and Charlotte Nevill went one-two in the Child A division. Riggs took the gold medal in all-around (38.050) and individual golds on vault (9.65), bars (9.700) and beam (9.500), and silver on floor exercise (9.200). Nevill earned silver medals in all-around (37.300), vault (9.500), bars (9.400) and beam (9.25), and placed fourth on floor (9.15).
In the Child B age group, Makinlee Thomason was second in all-around (36.400) and first on floor (9.2). Payton Lindley took second all-around in the Child C division with 37.60points, and placed first on the vault and bars, scoring 9.65 on both events.
In the Junior A age group, Morgan Smith and Raeleigh Thomason claimed the top two places on the podium. Smith was first in all-around (37.700) and claimed a top three medals in each event: first on vault (9.5); third on bars (9.55), second on beam (9.300), and first on floor (9.35). Thomason was second in all-around (37.250) with a second place on vault (9.3), first on beam (9.35) and second on floor (9.3).
In the Men’s Washington State Competition at Everett Community College on March 11, Connor DeWolf finished fourth in the Level 9 14-15 age group with a 68.15 all-around points. DeWolf took gold medals on rings (12.1) and high bar (11.4), and tied for a silver medal on vault (12.3).
Competing in the same age group, Liam DeWolf earned the gold medal on floor (12.6) and fourth on pommel horse (11.1).
