Dairy Queen take-over to benefit TNT fastpitch
The select TNT fastpitch squad is hosting a Dairy Queen take-over fundraiser from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at Sequim Dairy Queen, 720 W. Washington St.
Half of all sales during the take-over benefit the team, helping pay for equipment and tournament fees.
TNT Fastpitch is a girls U-14 softball fast pitch travel team started in 2009.

Umpire meeting set
Western Peninsula Umpires begin the new high school baseball and softball season with their first meeting on Sunday, Feb. 21, at the First Presbyterian Church, 139 W. Eighth St. in Port Angeles.
All registered Western Peninsula Umpires are required to attend the first meeting to receive new rule books and tests.
Umpires with previous experience on the diamond are also welcome to attend the meeting and learn about the association.

Smyth makes
EWU list
Cross country runner Alex Smyth, a junior at Eastern Washington University and 2006 graduate of Sequim High School, was named to Eastern’s All-Academic team for the fall quarter 2009. Smyth is studying exercise science.
Junior soccer opens registration
Sequim Junior Soccer spring league registration is open for all players in groups U-8 to U-15.
Register early to receive a discount. Early registration ends Feb. 14.

P.A. hosts tourney
for Presidents Day
Port Angeles Recreation Department is hosting the Red Lion Hotel Presidents Day Classic on Feb. 13-14, with divisions for boys and girls basketball teams in grades five-nine.
Cost is $235 per team and features a four-game guarantee.
